Isai RochaRecording artist Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is being investigated for misdemeanor battery after allegedly punching a fan who asked for a photo.
The alleged incident occurred in downtown L.A. Thursday, around 3 a.m., according to LAPD.
Video obtained by TMZ shows a man lying on the floor, motionless, while Ye walked away, arguing with a woman.
From the video, it is not clear how the man ended up on the floor and at no point was Ye shown engaging in the act of battery.
TMZ added that Ye was on his way out from a late-night studio session at a downtown L.A. warehouse when fans stopped him to ask for a photo. Ye declined and after an exchange of words, the alleged battery occurred.
While LAPD named Ye as a suspect, he has not been charged or arrested.
