据媒体报导，这架直升机原本要前往千橡市的曼巴体育学院（Mamba Academy），途中直升机内部出现起火，这可能就是导致坠机的原因。
紧急救难人员在卡拉巴萨斯市山区发现飞机残骸，但没有发现任何生还者。
当日天气多雾，直升机的飞行路线并不理想，不过失事原因仍在调查中。
布莱恩为湖人队付出了二十年的努力，赢得五次NBA总冠军。他不仅是受人喜爱的篮球明星，他还以动画短片《亲爱的篮球》（Dear Basketball）在2018年获得了奥斯卡奖。
